"The firm said it will be eliminating the familiar regional networks that often govern which users can and can't see content posted on the site.  Instead, the new model will be simpler, allowing users to grant permission to browse personal photos and entries based on three tiers -- friends, friends of your friends, or everyone. Zuckerberg said the firm will also be adding more precise tools for controlling privacy settings. Rather than depending exclusively on generic settings, users will be able to set privacy restrictions on individuals photos and posts."

well if a target makes their privacy setting "friends of friends", then it's going to be 100 times easier to befriend a friend of your target...

I feel the same as peekaboo. I can see one of my targets' profiles since we share the same network. We don't know how the new privacy settings will really work, or if there truly will be more loopholes. etc. so, not exactly looking forward to the changes. Sad

Ok, this new facebook thing has some good point but bad points. The good points is that the people that were hidden (in black) are viewable. The bad part which bothers me i that we can't hide our friends list anymore. What do you all think? I thought there was going to be tons of messages today on the forum concerning the new facebook.

I just figured something out. You can hide your friend list. It's not in the privacy settings anymore but you can take it off by going on your profile and clicking on the pencil on the top of the box which shows your friends. Smiley

All I can say is it's a nightmare!!! The one thing that is interesting is that now I can sort of get on my target's profile. I can see what groups and apps they use. Apparently there isn't a way to hide that. However... when I search said person out, it goes straight back to my home page like I have been blocked. I know that's impossible though because the Target has no clue about my fake space or email associated with that page. I have even managed to name my fake space as a person who the target went to school with... I have also used Google to search target out but seems to be hidden from Google as well. What in the world is going on with Facebook?!!!!

So, last night one target's page was wide open while they were on FB mobile.  And, many others had not yet set up their new profiles, so many parts were also opened up.  The FB recommendations have made people aware of various settings and many who were visible are no longer probably because they accepted the defaults.

There are application settings, etc. that many people are not aware of, so certain parts of the profile (i.e. Groups) can now be seen.  Those can be changed as well.

The only thing that I haven't figured out how to hide is the 'pages'.  There seems to be no setting for that and no help is available on FB.  But, one target was able to hide them.  I was still able to see the pages using the 'fan' code.

So, I've lost more access to targets than I've gained but since I was able to have full access for a short while, I probably made up for it.  There are still a lot of users who probably haven't adjusted settings so, they may be open for a while longer as well.

at first I thought the new changes were going to be a good thing (at least for a while) because many users haven't changed their settings...which now I have been able to peek at some profiles that were completely private BUT i hate hate hate the new changes Angry Angry. I hate that my pages are showing, I hate that I cant hide my friends list from my friends anymore and i hate the active status. I dont want everyone to know when i comment on a page or comment to someones comment. Rant over lol

I don't like this. It made parts of my profile visible. I don't want people seeing my friends list and now everyone can see it.

That's because there isn't an option. Wish there was...
