For anyone out there who doesn't know... Patch Tuesday is (per Wikipedia):
"
Patch Tuesday is the second Tuesday of each month, on which Microsoft releases security patches.[1] Starting with Windows 98, Microsoft included a "Windows Update" system that would check for patches to Windows and its components, which Microsoft would release intermittently. With the release of Microsoft Update, this system also checks for updates to other Microsoft products, including Office, Visual Studio, SQL Server, and others."
What this means to the average home user is, check your Windows updates and/or take a peek down your screen to your bottom right and see if you have a Windows Update icon screaming, "click me to update".

While we all know that there have been some updates which have gone terribly wrong in the past, it's still your safest bet to proceed with these MS updates and apply them to your machine. I know some of you may argue the point but, trust me, there is more of a chance of
nefarious acts than a total Windows crash
...there is always that one time... LOL

Seriously though, from the mouth of a certified technician... take your vitamins and get your updates!

More on this month's updates:
"Unfortunately, we have 11 patches fixing a total of 25 security holes. Do not forget, if you are using the RTM version of Vista (one without any service packs installed), you are no longer supported and will not be offered these patches; you will need to get at least SP1 installed to have user support again...."
